Does the new MBA come with the new trackpad - ie no button?

Also why is it shipping early November? I thought it was already "unibody" and would therefore only require a change of internal components ie harddrive etc? Seems strange that it is shipping later than brand new form factors introduced for the MB and MBP!

As it shows on the Apple website, no new button.

why early november? Only Apple knows.

    Yes, it's already unibody.

Well the MB and MBP are made in the same factory using their new technique. I don't think the MBA was ever made alongside the MB and MBP, because if the MBA was always made using their new process inside a massive factory that makes Apple's other lines, the new process would have been old news, leaked to websites such as MacRumours months ago.

However, they may be produced in the same factory now, and I think the only explanation for the MBA's late appearance is that the demand for the MB and MBP are much higher, so in order to fill demand for the MB and MBP, they need to put their resources towards creating enough of these machines first. The MBA could probably wait a bit until MBs and MBPs are stockpiled.

just seems strange - especially the trackpad.

wasnt the air the first big push for the new wave of trackpad gestures? yet now it doesnt "keep up" with the buttonless look of the mb and mbp!

I didnt really care for that no button deal. it would have been cool if it were like a touch screen. but its not. the whole pad is the button. whenever you want to click on something you have to push the whole trackpad down just like you would if you had a button at the bottom. the gestures are cool but a touch screen type pad would have been alot cooler.

Doesn't have the black bezel around the glass-covered screen look either. I think it'll get redesign next year to catch its look up.
