I installed Everest on my MacBook Pro. It shows me, that the CPU clock is not 3066MHz (standard) but it changes very often. Sometimes I have 1500MHz, 1800MHz (...) or another CPU Multiplier. The same with the front side bus.

Is this normal? I don't think, that the Core 2 Duo have TurboBoost or so? :D
 
I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that the core freq is never above that of what the standard is supposed to be right? What you are probably seeing is call Intel SpeedStep. It is used to decrease the clock speed when not needed to reduce power usage and was introduced as early as the Pentium III.
