I don't really know where to put this topic, but it's about photography (also software). Anyways...

Photoshop CS4 won't open my raw files (.cr2 files from my Canon 1000d) so I downloaded Adobe's DNG converter (yes the most recent version, 10.something). When I select a folder, it says that none of the files in it are a supported file type...I tried googling my problem and it seems that if you save the pictures as JPEG+RAW it won't work because the JPEG is somehow embedded into the raw (or something) but if you shoot in RAW only, it works. So then somebody suggested I try Lightroom (3)...which won't recognize the files either.

I'd use the raw editing program the camera came with (Digital Photo Professional) but it keeps closing itself and shows my files very pixelated whenever I open them.

Help? All I want to do is to be able to process my raw files.

Oh and if it makes a difference, i'm using Snow Leopard v. 10.6.3

I have almost the same camera (450D) and it produces .cr2 files too, and with the Camera Raw 5 plugin I was able to open them in PS CS4.

Maybe look for the original Camera Raw 5 plugin (I linked to an update), as it is not included with CS4, but with CS5.
