I notice my iphone 3gs has a crack at the bottom at the charger port in the black plastic, is there any way I can fix it? is it serious?

the phone seems to work ok, I just bought a speck products silicone rubber cover for it & will put it on the phone, will this help prevent any further cracks?

besides being very careful, is there any thing else I can do to stop the crack for going further, as I will need to plug it & unplug it to charge the iphone.

My 3Gs has a crack in it as well. Most probably do. It could be called a "defect" and Apple might replace if its with warranty. There is no danger in having this crack.

It must be a weakness on the 3GS I have the same crack, bought a new back but have not got around to changing it yet.

yep try apple can't hurt. worst they can say is say sorry. even if it's out of warranty I'd try.
