Hi guys.

I was in the middle of class and dropped my iPad mini right on the floor. It cracked all the way across and I don't know what to do. I love this thing so much and I am pretty bummed about this.

You guys have any advice on what to do? I don't know what the Apple replacement fee would be and if it's pricey I don't have any $ for gadgets as it's needed for a truck.

Thanks!

Any advice that I can say before I pay? That rhymed. I mean attempt at getting out of paying.

Tell them the truth, be honest. Maybe you'll lucky and they'll be feeling generous. But don't expect anything, it's not likely and they have no obligation to give hand outs.

Depending on what configuration you Mini is, you may want to pick up a used one on Craigslist and sell your cracked one on eBay. I picked up a "Mint" iPad mini 32GB on CL with smart cover for $250. You can probably sell your cracked one for about $150 on eBay or CL.

I took my iPod touch to the apple store, which i shattered the screen on when dropping it in the drive way. They told me it would be $150 to replace, but were generious enough to do it for free. i had my 5 year old kid there with me, which i think helped alot.

No. They don't do one time exceptions anymore. If you don't get lucky and it turns out you have apple care, you are paying.

Likely done before they had apple care plus on them, so they could still do that.

Now, no way. Unless it is something stupid minute like a single hairline, there are no freebies ever.
