If I remember correctly, the movie Amadeus kind of implied it.

Then in "The Last Action Hero", the movie-buff kid deduces that a cop is corrupt because the actor is the "guy who killed" Mozart... (Since some actor often play bad guys, so you kind of know...)

Haven't seen these movies in this millenia... Memory is fuzzy...

Spotting the correct quote is one thing, but can you also...

... google "the guy who killed Mozart"!

So good.

Unfortunately the movie deviated from fact in regards to this little detail. It absolutely did imply it. you are 100% correct on that. This is a case of Hollywood taking artistic license (making **** up). Antonio Salieri was indeed a contemporary of Mozart and was one of the only 2 people present at his funeral.
I missed "The Last Action Hero" reference because I walked out of that movie about 30 minutes in and never gave it a second thought. So that's my bad. Now that I know the reference I got a chuckle out of it. Maybe I should revisit that movie.

Regardless... I think most people simply took this as a joke. I am just happy that people on these forums are finally having a little fun. Usually people are bickering and putting each other down.

I am sure glad Bob is sticking around. It sounds like he has a position similar to what Jony had with Steve (and maybe still does with Tim). Good for you, Bob... now please make a Mac Pro that can be rack-mounted on its side so we can still use it as a server in a rack. That's all I ask! lmao

Looking at the big picture of all SR VPs - this must make some HR Managers real nervous.

Not a single black - er, I mean African American.
Not a single woman.

Not saying this is right or wrong, just say'n.

I couldn't be happier that Bob is staying with Apple, he has always seemed to be a standup guy. He is always an excellent speaker in all of the Apple product videos. Really excited to see what Apple has next! :D

Same here. Keeping BOB on seems a wise thing. He comes across as a decent, level headed, down-to-earth no-nonsense guy, just what APPLE needs. Happy to see him stay!

Look it is easy to see what happened to Mansfield... Mansfield decided to retire. Cook said ok. In the meanwhile he watches underlings in the department f-up stuff including the e-peat (environmental stuff) debacle which Mansfield graciously took the fall for. Then in other departments where people have left Tim Cook watches more screw ups, like with the Apple Store "layoffs" that had to be immediately rescinded. Finally the quality control elsewhere shows flaws with a series of bad tv commercials coming out that also have to be erased from the airwaves and the internet within days of coming out. All this has to be concerning to Cook even though the company overall still continues to print money.

Soooo.... Tim Cook goes to Mansfield and says he needs his experience to help guide future manfuactrering decisions. Bob says "sorry, I want to sit on the beach in Mexico!" Tim then offers him more money than God, lets him keep a SVP title, and offers to let him works a couple days here and there around whatever schedule he basically wants, ie. to be a high paid consultant really and Bob, goes "sounds good!"

Tim Cook just paid a retiring vet a brick ton of money to stay in a made up title roll just to consult on decisions parttime...

Let's not forget BOB had stock options of 250,000 shares in total, maturing in 2013, 2014 and 2016: at yesterday's high of $680/share a cool 170 million, but happy just the same to see him stay. :)

Ah, so this is where Crockett and Tubbs ended up...

Start-UP??

So we need to know is Apple's top brass still structured as a Start-up or is it becoming a top heavy mutation that will become slow and cumbersome like it's rivals??????

This is quite an important point that Steve maintain as his corporate Mantra!

Bowing to that affirmative action BS is a waste. I'm sure if there was a African American or woman who has been at Apple as long as those guys and are as qualified, they'd be at the top spots too. And by qualified, I mean a hard ass. These guys come off as soft during the Keynotes but I am sure each one is as blunt as Steve when it comes to work.

Watch CF

CF could be making a run as Tim Cook's heir apparent. Will it be a Mac guy from Next or an iOS guy from Next?

canyonblue737, well deduced. I'm in agreement - up to the vacation paid deal, I think he'll actively manage, and introduce new solutions and products. His work alone made IP4 work properly in IP4S (radio antenna), high-resolution retina displays (thank heavens!!), etc. I highly doubt others can contribute as much innovation solutions into future products THAT well, Riccio maybe.

Bob!!!! You made my day!!!!! I'm stoked now baby!!! Keep them focused, slap a few heads, scream at Scott a few more times. 9 more to go Bob. You can do it.

Glad that decision went Apple's way, eh Bob? ;)

Craig, and Dan. Report to Bob. :apple:

Eh!!! See Scott Forstall, its not only Canadians that say "eh"! Here we have somoene from NY trying to bite our style lol.

When Phil leaves ... I think we'll all be a bit saddened.

Strange that Mansfield was originally retiring. Seems young enough. Early 50's?
