Craigslist ATV3 ATV2 Swap

Why are people on craigslist and ebay offering free ATV3s for ATV2s? From what I can tell ATV3s can be jailbroken. What am I missing?

Can a ATV2 with Software version 6.0.1 be jailbroken or reversed back to 5.0.2?
