after reading and posting here i went to craigsilst and posted my xbox 360 for sale and i have gotten the usual responces of people trying to low ball me, and i even already gotten one scammer (the i'll pay that price but need you to ship it) In my ad i even wrote please call me between 10am and 11pm, and this morning at 8:30 i get a call on my cell, i didn't answer it, bu sure enough it was about my xbox. Now i will agree with some of you that it is an awesome site, just needs some moderation.

Of the three things I've sold on craigslist from the moment I posted to the moment someone came and picked them up was 3 days total. I listed a desk there and it sold in one day, the posting never saw the evening hours. :)

Now I also tend to reply to some posts and never get answers but they're usually 2+ weeks old.

I've sold an old Compaq desktop (about 3 years old anyway) and an elliptical trainer on Craigslist. It took several months to sell either of them. I probably started the price too high, but as I kept dropping the price, it generated more interest.

I love Craigslist, probably because I am a deal finder/buyer. I rarely ever buy anything at retail price, I think it is more a challenge to myself to find something on sale. I have bought and sold a bunch of stuff on craigslist. Furniture is a great one, you can usually find great deals on pretty much anything. When selling, I think most people are looking for a great deal so if you are trying to sell something for 10% less than retail, I doubt you will get any hits.

Craigslist is also about patience if you want to get a deal or are looking for something in particular.

Craigslist is like putting a want ad in the newspaper. More or less.

Less, apparently. I suppose because the listings are free, many people think that they don't have to provide complete information or respond to questions. One ad I've been asking the seller about (a car!) includes only a generic picture of the car, instead of the one they actually own. Pictures of my car coming soon, the ad says. Been that way for weeks. And it's not like the price is so low that they probably sold it already.

I'm listing a $499 MSRP printer for $150 OBO, which should generate some lowball offers at least. At this point I might even take one. No interest.

I've bought and sold a bunch of things on craigslist - everything from a bed and futon to a powermac G5. That said, some people are bad at responding as sellers or following through as buyers and make the experience worse for everyone. But on the whole, I've found it to be most useful.

Nothing but SUCCESS...

with CraigsList.org and I continue to list items as I type this post. I've sold five (5) vehicles, two (2) Mac computers, power tools, textbooks, memorabilia, and the list goes on...and on... I've bought a vehicle, a Mac G5 w/23" cinema display, a Apple BT for my iPhone, Disneyland Tx, Legoland Tx, Magic Mountain Tx, Concert Tx, SDRAM, Memory Sticks/Jump Drives, External HD, a massage chair and the list is even longer; and no fees attached. Even my transactions with PayPal transactions, I would have the buyer add 4% to their total amount to cover those charges.

eBay was the bomb, until I found CraigsList.org and realized that I was getting jammed on the FEES for listing my items and when the transaction FEES were "automatically deducted" by eBay/PayPal. Many times the items didn't sell, but I would still have the outstanding "posting" FEES deducted from my bank account.

CraigsList.org is regional/local thereby decreasing the costs for shipping and insurance on each item. I just tell them "to meet me at a public place" and bring cash, unless they are paying with PayPal. I haven't listed anything on eBay in over two (2) years.

I've sold 2 iPods very quickly (one in 6 hours, one in a day and a half) for prices higher than I would have gotten on eBay through Craigslist so i have nothing but praise for it. Perhaps location could be a factor? I love the fact that I don't have to mail anything or deal with electronic payments, i can just put a disclaimer in the ad saying "cash only" and bam. It's an option for the semi-paranoid/paranoid who don't like eBay :)

I bought two mountain bikes on craigslist I look in the local area. You really have to be careful on there. I suggest paypal only and only ship to US buyers. ;)

Check out: Services --> Erotic. It will both scare you and arouse you, which is kind of cool in itself.

I just did. The prices some of those charge, holy crap! Hell, for 300 bucks an hour, I'll give someone an "erotic massage" too :D

Well, maybe not....

I have had pretty good luck buying and selling things on craiglist. I have sold computers, dvds, game consoles etc its nice to be able to sell something locally. I would defiantly say that it can be flaky tho. When i was trying to sell my 360 i received probably 100+ emails ( no kidding ) with in 2 weeks. Most people said they would take it and then blew me off. So yes it can also be a huge pain in the butt. When ever i want to sell something craiglist is my first choice.

I've had mixed luck, mostly good. I've bought furniture almost brand new. Sold a couple of computer parts, and other stuff that were taking up too much space. It took several tries to sell stuff, and sometimes wouldn't hear back from buyers (or sellers for that matter) for days, or at all. I think I've even met a few people off of Craigslist.. who actually were pretty normal, and good friends of mine.

Persistence and patience is the key to a happy Craigslist experience.

The first several times I used CL, it was a wonderful success. :)

Bought a very nice chair at a great price. Met with buyer at their apartment (other people I trusted were given all the same info I had "just in case"). The seller and I haggled a bit, and then were kind enough to help me move the chair. My rear is resting comfortably on it as I type. Hee.

Sold a used Wii for a smidgeon under retail (although I could've scalped it :p). Buyer and I met inside of a large, busy bookstore and we swapped w/out any issues, I let him see it all before the final exchange.

Sold a used Nintendo DS Lite, case, several DS games for almost exactly retail despite owning the unit for over a full year. Met up w/ buyer in a busy coffeeshop, she looked it all over, then we exchanged.

Sold a broken MB. The LCD was absolutely gone-- everything else worked w/out a problem. Met at a busy doughnut shop, buyer looked it over, we exchanged goods/ cash.

Folks on MR didn't think my asking prices were fair-- yet all of those sold on CL for my asking price and within 1 hour of my posting the ad. CL worked well for me. :)

Until... I attempted to place an ad this last December and it didn't show up in CL searches, but did if I copied and pasted the link that CL emails you as the seller. Shrug.

So I'm a bit irked about that... but overall, I'm a fan of CL. No PayPal doohickery. No eBay stuff to deal with. Less chance of being scammed (I think).

I like craigslist. Someone was giving away some nice technics speakers and I picked them up. Couldn't be happier!
