Seriously. I have never ever had to backspace, edit, correct so much typing. What is going on? It’s really bad - I mean anything I type, even this post I’ve backspaced so many wrong words. It’s like I have to type at a snail’s pace in order to be accurate. Will this ever be fixed? I even had to turn off character previews for the keys.

Predictive text on the iPhone has been getting worse for many years..

It’s not just that though. Sometimes I’ll backspace because it gets a letter wrong, then I’ll type the letter again and AGAIN it puts the wrong letter. It’s crazy I’ve never experienced this. I have to type 2x slower to make it accurate. They definitely changed something in iOS 15 and onward with the keyboard. It doesn’t keep up anymore.

The strangest thing I've found with typing on iOS is it tries to auto-correct part of a word. Say I type a word and then manually correct the last few characters of that word, iOS will then sometimes autocorrect those last few characters into a totally different word. It's as if the software can't recognise the entire word and is only looking at the few characters I've retyped.

Have you reported the feedback to Apple?

You’re running beta software there may or may not have been changes n

Typing on my iPad is getting much much worse but then they say the tech is only as good as the person controlling it, so maybe I’m the moron. Predictive text and autocorrect drives me crazy too, completely ducking unacceptabench

Yeah, I’ve noticed this too to the point I’ve thought about installing another keyboard because I’ve getting tired of the Sergio (awful) autocorrect on the built in keyboard! Strangely, the dictation on the built in keyboard works wonderfully…

It’s doing this too. Same exact experience - I’ll type a word completely accurately and then iOS will just decide I meant another word. It’s CRAZY lol. It’s like I can’t type at all anymore, and I type A LOT as part of my job, and it’s seriously slowing me down. I can’t fix it no matter what I do, I even tried installing alternate keyboards.

The typing experience definitely sucks. I wasn't making so many typos when iPhones used to be tiny. Now I have this huge brick but I make a typo in almost every sentence.
I think it’s something to do with the sensors or something. If I type at a slower speed sometimes it makes less errors. But it still puts the words together as if I didn’t hit space, sometimes it’s just not accurate at all.

What I have noticed, also on iOS15 is that the spacebar does not seem to be as responsive (which does not really make much sense as it is not a physical button) but often it does not seem to register the space and then it turns two short WORDS into the most random single WORD. It also loves to turn random words into capital letters. For example, it always writes "I Want" instead of "I want".

Another thing is how stupid quick suggest is. For example I would write "walkinged" instead of "walked" by mistake, so I go back and tap on the suggestion "wanted" but then it does this: "wanted indged". It does not remove the wrong word and replace it with the suggestion, instead it adds the correct word and then leaves the wrong part of the initial typo.

we encounter the same issue on iPhone 8 and 12 Pro. Completion is crap and there is more lag than all previous iPhone versions I ever used.
I hope there is some work under the cover and it will be fixed soon.

The worst is when it AC from an actual word! And they definitely broke or turned off the feature that got used to where you tapped for certain letters and gave you the letter you actually wanted.

Today I typed the word ‘that’ and I typed it 100% correctly and autocorrect turned it into “jar bar”

I agree that over years predictive text has gotten way worse, not just on iPhone, but previously on Android as well, be it Google Keyboard, which worked like a charm on my first Android irphonor SwiftKey, which also was great and had gotten worse on Android and is far from stellar on my iPhone as well.

And can we talk about how much better for on screen typing is Microsofts keyboard? I like it a lot when using it those few times on my gf's Surface device!
Not so much on my 12.9 iPP.
