Crash Bandicoot: On the Run! is coming to iPhone and iPad in the spring of 2021. The endless runner title is being developed by King, makers of the massively popular Candy Crush.

PlayStation-era fans of the franchise can look forward to classic Crash Bandicoot gameplay and iconic characters, locations, and bosses on the smartphones. Players will be able to craft gadgets and weapons, earn rewards, go running with friends in multiplayer mode, and more.
Crash Bandicoot is back, but this time he's on the run and on mobile! That means high-speed battle runs across Wumpa Island to save the multiverse from the evil Dr. Neo Cortex; smash crates, avoid obstacles and run into your favorite characters… Not to mention battling your favorite Crash bosses, earning rewards, base building and weapon crafting – all with a customizable Crash!
Anyone interested in the game can now pre-register on the App Sore. Signed up players will get a notification when the game becomes available for download and an exclusive blue hyena skin at launch.

..... This is literally the best thing to happen all year.

... Not that that's a particularly high bar, but...... This news might actually make 2020 worth it lol.😃

Edit: They'd better not ruin it. Ruin my childhood, and I will hunt you down King, so help me. 😐

The running genre is suitable for iOS but you would think by now that they could create a game that would rival something that would be on PS4 in terms of graphical fidelity.

Maybe it’s wrong to compare something like The N Sane Trilogy to an iOS app. Will have to wait and see.

Looks fun, but I'd prefer a 3D re-to-roam-world type game (I'm sure there's an actual name for sure a game)

Jebus.

Why another horrid endless run piece of junk.

iPhone has the power of Quality consoles these days.
Make a PROPER game. Not one of these money grabs low end mobile type things.

Game devs have REALLY disappointed me.
They have been given the hardware in the amazing devices for Apple but they simply refuse to create PROPER Console quality software for them.

I guess it's all down to money
The software houses don't want to spend the time and money to develop proper quality software as they can't work out how to get their money back on game sales.

IT's such a shame :(

So the price of 0, with in-app purchases. Realised that this is about creating addiction and monetisation possibilities - not surprising given the developer - and moved on.

Freemium games like this have ruined games - it's more about delays and continual monetisation possibilities than creating a fun experience to sell.

Call of Duty Mobile finally embraced it. And the payoff seems bigger than all the previous ones combined... so, everything still being down to money, many more might jump in except that now the bar is extremely high.

But what you say is true, at least smaller endeavors like INSIDE which was a PS4 PSN game when I tried it is digested effortlessly on iPhone X... let alone iPads.

A big chunk of the Steam library, dare I say 75% of it (anything not aiming RTX cards level), could be handled by these handheld devices.

I'm surprised that Apple hasn't put resources into getting the retro game market going on Apple Arcade. Retro games can be quite successful.

Just look at the Nintendo Switch. They have non-Nintendo retro games galore at premium prices and they sell! Imagine if you could get arcade classics as part of your Apple Arcade subscription!

Guessing these are to buy wumpa fruits to unlock skins etc in game

Sigh, why does it have to be an endless runner game, of which there are already so many? Bring actual Crash Bandicoot games to iPhone instead.

Let's be honest here for a moment.
A totally killer product for Apple would be to make a dock for the iPhone and make it into something like a Nintendo switch.
Stick your phone on the dock, which is connected to your TV, and with a proper controller play AAA Titles.

This just needs a tiny bit of work from Apple on the hardware side, and throw some marketing at it.

I'm sure people would them be far more willing to pay more for "Proper" games on the BIG screen running off the phone.
Let's face it, Apple will never make a console. And Buying an iMac to play games is just dumb.

That’s not a real crash game, just another temple run clone. I’ll stick to the console version.

Not to mention consumers come to expect apps and games to be free now... so if a developer does try to sell something upfront with no in app purchases, but even charges $0.99 they lose a big customer base.
