I got rear ended pretty hard, my iPhone 14 Pro did not detect a crash, despite it being mounted to my MagSafe charging mount similar to how Apple advertised.

I. could. have. died.

I guess it can only detect extreme crashes.

I glad you are OK, I would ask Apple if the accelerometers are directional. Being in a frontal crash with a sudden stop in forward motion is totally different than being rear ended with sudden acceleration.

While I’m sure there are many factors for crash detection, maybe post a question in the Apple discussion forums.

I’m glad you’re okay. I hope you’ll take it easy in the next few days. Don’t ignore any symptoms you may feel. I thought I was fine after a childhood car crash, and a week later, I ended up in traction.

Did any airbags go off? Were you stopped or moving? How much damage was done to either car? I’m wondering how all these factors play in, and what we’ll learn about crash detection in the near future.
