Just change the ram and now when I run it with the battery in It locks up tried each individual stick alone no problems any ideas seemed fine when battery is out

----------

How can the battery cause this the battery is well buggered but would it cause it to crash

Is this a white non-Unibody MacBook ?

My guess would be that the keyboard ribbon is damaged and replacing the ram has made it worse - the ribbon passes over the middle ram slot...
