Mods- if this is not the right place, please move.

I've been using Crashplan+ for about 6 weeks now on my late 2012 27" iMac. I have about 600GB of data, with about 2/3 of that being movies and photos. The initial backup took about 4 weeks as expected. When the backups first started I had issues with the mac sleeping after 15 minutes and killing the connection to Crashplan. I changed the power settings to "never sleep" and everything worked well from there. Once the intital backup completed, I went back to the default power settings.

So here is my question, is there a best practice for how often Crashplan should run and what the power settings should be? I have Crashplan set to backup every 15 minutes, but if the mac sleeps after 15 minutes, the backup won't start. I'm thinking about changing the backup to run every two hours and maybe set the computer to sleep 3?

    Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Crashplan is incredibly resilient about partial backups. Personally... I would recommend that you just not worry... it just doesn't require maintenance.

I set my iMac to never sleep... but I also set it to require a password once the screen saver is activated (I set that to 1 hour). Typically, when I leave my computer, I manually use fast user switching to return to the login screen... but my account is still running.
