Assuming one can afford the price, is it "crazy" to buy the 16 inch base macbook pro just for the larger display?....as compared to the high end macbook pro 13 inch? I have always had a 15 inch pro but something is drawing me to the 13....just use at home.

Thanks! Oh, and yes, aging eyes, but nothing terrible....will 13 be too small?

If it's to be your main home computer then I'd say the 16", it's very close to what you're used to. Although a 13" Macbook is somehow a very pleasing thing to own, an object of technodesire in its own right. But whichever way you jump you can be sure you'll have doubts for a few years, that's guaranteed.

I've gone from buying 13" models for several years and switched to the 16" a couple of weeks ago. Whilst it's a big laptop in absolute terms it's about as small as you could make a 16" laptop with these features. I can't say it's been a problem, I also have a latest model 15" XPS and a 14" ThinkPad from work. I can't say I've been bothering with either of them since I got the MBP. Display is great apart from gaming although that's a flaw common to most high res (>1080P) mobile displays. Battery has been great too, surprisingly so.

I have a 13 and two 15s. I use the 13 in the living room most of the time. The 15s are connected to 4K displays most of the time. If I could only have one, it would be the 16. It's just better for me for work. I typically run WUXGA to QHD on the 15 and would expect to on the 16 as well.

At the moment, you get better speakers, more RAM options and better airflow too.
