I personally think the notch is too large for such a small phone like the 12 mini. Takes up too much space along the top.

Also the SE display isn't much smaller. The SE's display is 16:9 aspect ratio (wider & shorter) and the Mini is 19.5:9 (thinner & taller) meaning the the SE has as much display area as a 5" 19.5:9 phone would.

Your not crazy to keep the SE, i got both of them and the SE is a solid phone. Yes the 12 Mini is the more modern phone with top specs in line with the 12 series, but the SE is has the internals of the 11 series. Touch ID is better but that's my opinion and the SE has no notch with a wider 16:9 screen. The big bonus here is the prices you have paid, $50 is an absolute steal for an SE. Maybe keep your SE for the rest of the year, and then look at the 13 Mini if it materialises in September. Its really up to you though, if you can afford it, KEEP BOTH that's what i've done. ;)

You paid more than $49 for the SE. According to your own post, you paid $170 out the door.

Yes and it’s weird because although the SE has a smaller display, I think I prefer it’s format to the taller and thinner Mini display.

Nope, so out of the millions how many did you sample, 10,20,100? lol
There is a thread here with 241 pages (and growing) with users complaining about iPhone 12s with yellow tinted screens. I didn’t think this was breaking news. Guess you missed that...

The phone in the middle is how my SE looks and the one on the left is how my Mini, Max and the Max I had to return look like. They should all look like the middle phone, like my SE

Lol, so you’re saying that *all* iPhone 12 models have screen issues because of a bunch of geeks complaining in a tech forum? 🙄 That’s pretty much what these forums are all about. The silent majority don’t have such yellow/green/blue/whatever tint problems.

PS: Hate to break it to you, but your SE’s screen is too blue if it looks like the middle one.

$729 vs. $49. That is all you need to know unless you absolutely positively need something that the mini offers that the SE does not. It's not as though the mini is 93% better then the SE. Both are very good phones. It's a no brainer IMHO.
iPhone buyers worldwide from October 2018 disagree with you with most buying the new iPhone 11, or 12 models versus the SE or prior year models. Millions of buyers with no brains apparently.

Thats not true at all. The SE 2020 was the 5th best selling smartphone in the world last year, and the 2nd best selling iPhone model right behind the 11.

IMO you sound happy with the SE. It's fast - as it has the iPhone 11 chip inside. It has Touch ID, which can be preferable sometimes. It has a nice screen - one of the best LCD screens you'll lay eyes on (ignoring resolution, but resolution doesn't always mean better). It has a decent camera. It's light and not a "big" phone. It has some nice colors. The SE is also likely to have a battery that last a lot longer than a 12 mini.

Then consider the price after all that... I don't see a logic reason to keep the mini over the SE for your case. Plus, consider that iPhone 12S/13 mini will be out later this year - a little past your 6 months obligation for the SE. At that point, the SE will have value. You can sell it or trade it in or keep it for whatever.

Other than your first sentence, you agree with me! Most buy the latest model.

I picked up a new SE 2020 last week, but also wanted to try the Mini, which I got yesterday. I prefer the rounded edges and wider form factor on the SE. Its more comfortable for me to hold and one handed use is even easier because of the smaller display. I actually prefer the LCD on the SE as well. The whites are much more crisp compared to the yellowish tint all the new 12s have, it gets brighter and I dont really notice a difference in text sharpness. The Mini has better cameras, better speakers, better mic, more RAM and Face ID.

However, I only paid $49 for the SE while the Mini was $729. Maybe if I had paid $399 for the SE, I could justify spending a bit more for the Mini. I just cannot seem to justify the Mini for $680 more than the SE. As I go back and forth between using them and find things I like better on the Mini, I keep asking myself if its $700 better, and that answer is usually no. Even if you take price out of it, the SE just feels better in the hand to me, which I think may be more important to me than cameras, an extra GB of RAM or Face ID. Would I be crazy to keep the SE over the Mini?
The blue bias of the lcd is not better for your eyes. Is worse. And not true to colour.

Personally I recommended to keep night shift and true tone activated 24 hours on your device.

Size in hand is very personal thing. Only you can judge what feels best for you. For me the size of SE2020 feels much better in hand than my old X. But the 12 mini is even more comfortable for me.

The 12 mini is a premium spec product and priced that way. It’s for premium buyers who find the 12 and 12 pro too big physically.

If you don’t find value in the features of the 12 series valuable then of course don’t buy 12 mini. That’s why the 11 series and the SE are there In the product lineup! These are still premium products in the bigger perspective And cost more than other alternatives. I was looking at the latest version of the Samsung A series and that was a damn good product. I also remember owning the Galaxy Alpha a few years ago and that was unreal value - no Apple product could even match the value per dollar there.

So buy what’s best for you - and just remember to not limit yourself to Aaple ecosystem if price point is a factor.
