Must be a batch - no creaking issues with mine [spec in sig]

Then you must be lucky, I've got 2 replacements but both have creaking noise.

Check your in detail, try pressing bottom thing upwards from all sides, if it doesn't creak, you are good to go, else get a replacement.

There must be something wrong with the chassis or screws as so many 15 rMBP have creaking issues.

I noticed the creaking on mine the week I got it in 2012 April. Never sent it back and there haven't been any problems with it so far.

just got replacement, no creaks!

Well adding to the screen problems I'm discovering in my brand new 2.3 750M, just found out my new machine is also creaking. Don't even have to apply any pressure. Just need to pick up the machine carefully and support it from the middle.

This is the last straw.

Returning this to Amazon (unless Apple will replace a machine bought from third-party retailers)...

I was debating on whether the creaking issue was something I could live with. It doesn't seem to be loose screws.

It feels very hollow -- and flimsy. Not very solid.

I'm returning her.

Just processed my return to Amazon.
Dumping my squeaky machine as well.

Are you planning on getting the same model to replace it?

After taking my mbp into an Apple Store and having them tighten a screw that was in question, the creaking, on closer inspection is even worse. How are you guys going about returns? I had to order mine because it was a non standard spec w/ 16GB? are you just returning it to the apple store? What do you do after? re-order it online?

You can just call apple and ask for a refund, or if you have a store nearby, just get the money back.

And what are you guys doing immediately after? rebuying one on the spot/re-ordering online? Do you get any attitude when doing so in-store?

At the moment, I am waiting for my 4th replacement. If that is also faulty, I would just ask for refund and buy a new one after I have received my refund.

This reminds me of my first MacBook Pro, a 2006 Intel Core Duo 1.6GHz. It creaked so much when picked up. But a unibody doing that?

exactly, thats what i am thinking. Apple talks soo much about solid etc, but it creaks? and not 1 time but 3 timers in a row. If my 4th replacement is faulty, i will get refund and will wait a few weeks undtil problems are solved (if solved)

Received my 4th replacement with exactly SAME problem, I want my refund!

Apple is not equal to quality anymore, their quality control is worse then HP, I really don't get how this thing gets through with problem:confused:

i brought mine to the genius bar and met a prick who when i said "there is a problem here...." he would stop me mid sentence and say no there isn't, i can see its perfect, etc etc

so rude, so i just went to return it and luckily the next 2 guys i dealt with were very good, friendly, helpful, service i would expect from apple and one of the reasons i buy apple :)

ordering my 2nd 15" mbp now

I would say wait a few weeks... They have display problem and creaking issues. If you wait a few weeks, there are chances that you get a perfect machine.

thanks, yeah I'm planning on doing that if the next one isn't perfect, luckily the apple store isn't too inconvenient for me to get to to return it but i feel for the people who have to drive for hours =/

Hi guys,

My 15" Haswell BTO has just been delivered. Laptop is amazing but backplate creaks BIG TIME! Picking it up off my lap with lid open and.. wow.

Reading through all the comments here and on apple.com - this would appear to be a standard feature with these things. Last thing I want to do is get a replacement (at considerable inconvenience) only to find out it's the same (or worse).

I'm going to order a pentalobe screwdriver and try and adjust manually.

I picked up a 15" from BB last night. Happy and amazed I got a perfect one. No creaking problems.

which letter (for the week) is in the serial?

I see the serial number but which letter would it be?

----------

Production year: 2013
Production week: 38 (September)
Factory: C0 (Quanta Computer (Susidiary = Tech Com) China)

Checked on a website I know for serial numbers.

hmmm. so what was the 5th letter? in the 15 in screen thread, people were having more success with the later produced models P, Q etc. VERY limited sample size, so we dont know... but this seems very early in the production process?

that's the relevant post

I was one of the people who had waited weeks, no months, for a Haswell 15" rMBP. Looking at the threads with people complaining about poor screens and creaking cases, I've been put off making a purchase.

I thought it was a case of 'a few people complaining making things look worse', but an official Apple reseller posted the other day saying that 50% of his rMBPs creaked, so it's definitely a wider problem.

What on earth is Apple doing? Have they tried cutting costs with the new rMBP's by using the motherboard structure across the new 13" and 15"? Might explain why the case creaks.
