Since WatchOS2 allows Photo Watchfaces, I’ve been working on an app to let you quickly create nice Watchfaces. Choose a Watchface from the featured section, your camera roll, or search for anything you want. You can resize and move the image to how you like, and add an overlay. The app will save all the images to an album called “Watchfaces” which you can sync to your watch, and when you press download the watchface will appear immediately on your watch, ready to use.

Edit:

The app is now available! Check it out here: http://apple.co/1hNcAzj

Very nicely done. I'd definitely be interested when Watch OS 2 is out. (I'm not running the betas.)

I really like this! This is an excellent idea. Can't wait to use it when watchOS 2 comes out. I won't be installing the beta though so I can't beta test the app :(.

The features you are describing are already built into WatchOS 2.

go to photos, force touch a pic, choose set as watchface and then resize it and set it. not sure what the benefit of an app is. This the watchface I was using on watchOS 2.0 when I was running the beta.

There are a few ways I tried to make the app more useful than what is already built in:
  • The app is going to provide a set of Featured Watchfaces that are popular, so it's easy to find Watchfaces that look great.
  • When you search inside the app, it's going to show you great results for Watchfaces. You can search for anything you like.
  • Not all pictures look great with the text above them. The overlays make the text more clear, and allow you to customize the look of your Watchface.
  • When saving photos from the app, they will be neatly organized in a custom photo album called "Watchfaces" that can be synced to your Watch for ease of use.
  • It's easy to see how many different Watchfaces will look without having to save a bunch of photos to your phone, and put them all in an album, and sync them to your watch.
Hopefully that makes sense, please let me know if you have any questions/feedback.

What I would love for you to be able to do is make a box around the date/time so that when we do resize or move a photo around we can see if the clock will cover that part of the watchface. The Mario one I posted took a few tries because the clock overlay kept covering his hand.

Did you have a chance to check out the demo video I posted? The time will be visible in the app while you are resizing/moving it around, so you can make sure it's properly placed.

I saw a few seconds of it and thought I got a good feel. Guess I missed that part sorry. Good feature though.

this app seems redundant I doubt it would get let through since it does exactly the same thing that watch os 2 does

There are thousands of apps for Wallpapers/Backgrounds for iOS (that are extremely successful), and I think it makes a lot of sense to provide an app that lets you find/create great Watchfaces in a similar fashion. Hopefully that makes sense, please let me know if you have any questions/feedback.

Looks like fun. I have created my watch faces in Photoshop, but it would be nice to have an app for this purpose. When I looked for one all the wallpaper apps were geared towards the iPhone of course.

I am looking for some beta testers who are on WatchOS2/iOS9. You can test the app once Xcode 7 Beta is capable of uploading to TestFlight (it is broken atm). Please PM me your email address and I’ll get it to you when I can.

If anyone has ideas for improvements or tweaks based on the demo, please comment! If you want to be notified when the app launches, visit http://watchfaces.launchrock.com.
I would love be a beta tester , I have os2 with iOS 9.1
