    Hi,

I use my Time Capsule to back up my laptop (Time Machine) and also as
    a networked hard drive.

In the root directory of Time Capsule a folder called 'Data' is created to store the Time Machine backup. I can't seem to create folders next to the Data folder? I can't only create new folders within the Data folder.

    Is this normal?

    I advise against that.

Partition the drive into two partitions. Use one as Time Machine, and leave it alone. Use the other as your network drive, do with it as you will.

Time Machine works, but it's unwise to meddle with. YMMV.
