I've just got my new Mac Mini and want to install Windows 7 via Boot Camp. I have an external DVD drive but it seems Boot Camp is no longer happy with that it wants me to create an iso image of the disk.

Is there any easy (free) way to do this please in Lion?

Insert your CD
Open Disc Utility
Select the Disc (not the drive, but the disc)
Click New Image
Select DVD/CD Master as the image format
This is going to create a .cdr file
You should be able to just change the file extension from .cdr to .iso (although that may not ever be necessary)

Worked a treat. Thank you very much.
