I've been copying for an hour from CD and Hard Drive and all of the sudden it creates alias instead of copy whether I drag and drop or copy and paste.

I'm preparing files for a dead friend and need this correct ASAP.

Thanx

It's potentially a CD protection of some sort. Never heard of this behavior, but possible I suppose.

A troubleshooting idea, open Terminal and try to copy a file from there.

Code:
cp /Volume/CDName/filename ~/Desktop/

Also, I came across this other thread. Are you trying to copy to a Burn folder? (See link for details if so)

I've copying to a USB HD until this problem...

Now I'm copying to my internal HD...working fine so far.

after a restart and copying files locally, copying files to usb HD is now working again.

Thanx

I'm really interested in hearing how you're going to send files to a dead friend and why it needs to be done ASAP? If the friend is dead it would seem you have all eternity to send anything.

maybe he/she isn't really dead, just figurativly? or maybe its for a funeral
