I was just wondering how to set up a home network? I have wireless internet and always connect to that but anyone in any of the houses around could connect to my internet. So basically i'm trying to figure out how to make my own network where you have to enter that big long password that way nobody else can be useing my internet for free and possiblely be able to get inside of my macbook and see all my docs and stuff.

Where do I start?

First, you need to access your router's settings. To do this click the apple in the top left of your screen, then about this mac, then more info. Highlight network and write down the address next to 'router'.

Now open your web browser and type that address into the address bar. You'll be prompted for a user/pass. Default setting are usually 'admin' for both, or 'admin' for user with a blank password.

Now we need to know what type of router you have. I can help if it's Linksys. If you have a Linksys click on Wireless, then Wireless Security, then enable whatever it is you want.
