Hi Guys,

I'd like to select a bunch of files and create an archive that does not contain the parent directory when I extract it. It should just contain the files I selected.

I tried a number of different ways without success. Also, I'm having issues opening the Archive Utility preferences. I'm on OSX 10.7.5.

Thanks!

It's normally a function of the un-archiver software, rather than the Archive itself.
As you may know, that preference is in Archive Utility's Preferences.
Why can't you open the prefs? What happens?

You might like to try "The Unarchiver". It's in the Mac App Store. It'll un-pack pretty much anything, and it has preferences for creating enclosing folders or not.
