Creating and editing files over remote connection

After logging in via Finder, I'll connect to my Mac mini from my MacBook Pro to try and create a folder or change a file.
However, it tells me that I don't have permission to do anything like this.
Can someone tell me what I have to change so that I can create and/or edit files on my Mac mini FROM my MBP?

After both computers are ON what are the exact steps you're taking that gets you to the error message?

I'll log remotely into the Mac mini (via Finder) and try to create a folder. That's when I get the 'you don't have permissions' message

Yes. I even created a new user with admin privileges and file sharing is ON in the Mini.

I'm on older OS's but I need to have remote management & remote login checked.

Where do I find remote management and remote login?

Settings - Sharing, might be different on your version of OS, but still there I think, if not remember you can use spotlight to show you.

But it's still not letting me see the files/folders in 'Documents.'

Is your new user account on the same account that you're trying to access? Admittedly, I use Screens4 for the remote access (although you don't have to), I just find it easier, YMMV.

The only difference I can see to mine is rather than administrators, I've got the user as the access i.e mac mini. i'm prob not the most technical person to reply, as I say though, Screens 4 gives you full instructions on how to set up.

Does Screens4 allow you to access files via the Finder or is it just screensharing?
