i've read about 100 tutorials saying to use trans mac to format the usb and then restore from dmg, or if that doesn't work use diskpart to format the usb then convert gpt, then restore from dmg.

but neither of these methods has allowed the usb to show up on my laptop when i hold option.

Late 2008 MBP, nothing on the laptop currently.

i can't remember if i've ever successfully managed to create a bootable mac usb from windows before, but i am forgetting however i did whatever i did last time to install a mac os.
tried search the forum but idk what i am doing wrong, it was giving wild results completely unrelated to anything :s

edit: lol just found my own post from 2005 asking similar question. no answer back then D:

Not the answer to your question, but could you get a second hand Snow Leopard DVD and go from there?

Or follow these instructions?

yep thats one of the 100 same tutorials i have been trying. just finished one last attempt at that, no good :(

did just remember i have a very, very old macbook hidden away somewhere. i'll make a snow leopard on that and go from there :) slight pain in the butt but oh well!

just kinda sucks that still nobody has figured out how to make a working mac os usb from windows though, after all these years :( ah well
