Had a question for those who signed up for a new AT&T account with a new phone number. Did you have any choice in numbers or were you given the number? If you didn't like the number, could you pick another one?

And if you purchase an iPhone outside your area code, is the new number given an area code where you bought the phone or do you get the area code where you live?

Thanks in advance.

I'm sure at the Apple Store you have no choice. When I did the relocation to change my [area code], they said they would give me a choice, but they patched me through to someone else and the next lady gave me a number that would be reserved for me. Since it was a really easy number to memorize, I kept it, but I'm sure I could have changed it had I asked since she did ask if that was 'Ok with me.'

You get an area code based on where your billing address is. So if you want a particular area code, find an address where that area code is located and use that, lol <--- That's what AT&T employees did at this one store I went to for this couples' son.
