Hi all,
I am running Parallels V 18.3 on Ventura.
So far unable to install a Sonoma ß1 VM. Creation of iso file from the install Sonoma Apps is fine but then crashing at 1st reboot.
Any comments from other users?
TIA

I assume you mean you successfully run Parallels 18.3.0 on the current version of macOS 13.4 Ventura. And that you're trying to run the same version of Parallels on the beta version of macOS 14 Sonoma. I saw an email from the Parallels people the other day, can't find it right now. Do a search on Macrumors, I might have seen it there. They said they were cleaning up some bugs and incompatibilities i.e., it's not ready yet and Apple hasn't finished getting macOS 14 ready for release. Parallels did identify some of the issues they were working on, and if I recall correctly they pointed to a few functionalities you should avoid. They expect to be ready at release of macOS 14. Can't remember whether this applies to Intel or Apple Silicon or both. You might go to the Parallels web site and report your problem.

Thanks !
Nothing yes on PD website regarding installing Sonoma.

Only updates are about installing Pd on Sonoma. Not running Sonoma VM on existing systems

I know the story of ß :).
We are there to exchange experience as well !

I have Sonoma beta "working" under VMware Fusion. And that was without any tweaks to get it to run. Everything is fine until I do something that stresses the window server (e.g. yellow button to minimise a window) - the CPU goes flat out (all virtual cores) and the system "hangs" for anything between 10 seconds and 5 minutes!

Just wanting to compare experience. Do you get problems with window server using all cpu? If not, did you do anything to make it happy?

I would ask on the VMware forums, but I fear being attacked for being so silly as to run first beta in a vm. Everyone here is more lenient.

Hi,
Just tested, all is fine. I did not do it yet on VMW Fusion. Just Parallels. It sounds really smooth, but I allocated 18Go RAM.

How do I do this please? I have the ipsw but don't seem to be able to use it to install in Parallels.

I now have Sonoma Beta running as clients in both Fusion and Parallels. To get them booting I had to disable the Apple video adapter and use the old adapters. In Parallels prlctl set SonomaVM --video-adapter-type parallels. But then graphics performance (e.g. any window minimise) stops the machine for some seconds (Parallels) and much longer (Fusion).

Have you Parallels experts got it running with the Apple video adapter? A comment on the Parallels forum suggests that (unknown) changes to Metal are the cause.

Otherwise both VMs run well - surprisingly well for 1st beta!
