I have a credit card that I haven't activated yet.

I'm not going to until next week, when the 360 Elite gets closer to coming out.

I'm gonna sell a bunch of stuff, and go and buy my machine using cash + the card, before I end up possibly quitting Best Buy.

I mean, I might as well take it for the 399.92 they give it to for employees, right? :D

I was wondering when someone would mention this! I probably pay for about half my stuff with my ATM/debit/check card, including all my bills. I generally use it in place of cash (like at the supermarket), except for restaurants where I nearly always pay cash. Also it's VISA, so it works wherever credit cards will.

I usually put big and/or important purchases on my CC for the security. I lived for years with just my debit card though.

Same. I have only had a CC for a few months now, but I've had a debit card for years. I pretty much only use debit wherever I go. I'll use my CC to buy a movie or something and pay it off in full at the end of my billing cycle. I just plan to slowly build credit with it. I would probably freak out if I had a large balance on my CC. I'm weird with balancing my accounts like that.

I might like to point out that use a CC is one of the worse ways to build credit and really is not that good for it. There are by far better and faster ways to build credit.
Some of the better credit builders-
Rent an apartment/house -Pay on time
Have to pay bills --Pay all on time (cell phone bill is an easy one)
Get a car loan-- Those build credit pretty quickly.

Credit card should never be used to build credit. As I pointed out there are better ones listed above. As an example of what building my credit up from being not even on the map to fairly good.
I been renting a house for the past year.
My name is cable company.
My name is also the one with the gas bill.

I will never understand why people think credit cards are a good way to build credit. They are one of the worse ways to do it.
