I reserved an iPhone 4 and Im a new costumer to AT&T so I had to provide my Social. Are they gonna check my credit when I got pick up the phone or did it already get checked when I made the reservation?

if you reserved a phone for pick up i would guess they would run your credit the day you pick up the phone.

edit: they won't run your credit?

Yes....... If it's a new account they will perform a credit check to see if they need a deposit from you or not.

they will check it when you pick it up. they will activate a new line of service and check it before they do it. It has been my experience that you need to have pretty good credit to get a line from att. So, I hope you do.:D

JoeC2k6: where do you figure that they wont do a credit check?

im in the same situation. what was the point of asking for my social security number during the pre-order/reservation process if they weren't checking my elegibility then and there?

A lot of things can happen to your credit from now until launch day.

I think it was dumb for them to ask for our social for the reservation if they werent gonna do anything with it until launch day when I pick it up

so unless i some how ruin my credit in the next 7 days i should be good right? i just dont see the point in asking for all that info if they weren't checking my eligibility... i mean i'm not worried to begin with. i just don't get it.

So I just tried purchasing one and having it sent to my house and I entered my social and everything and its letting me buy so this mean I wont have any problems at the store when I go to pick it up on the 24th?

Im not gonna buy it no I just wanted to check if it would let me. The reason Im worried is because Im only 18 and I don't have any credit history thats why..

If you have no credit, then a deposit will be required. I'm in the same boat, a $500 boat that is

Just have $800 in your account at least just in case if a deposit should come up.

they would not be the ones to ask for it ATT would. I would suspect that if you went through with the purchase you would get an email in a few hous stating that a deposit was need as the order would be cancelled.

If you are that worried, go to your local ATT store have them run the credit check and see if you qualify. simple as that. they can tell you without making any commitments or purchases.

Has AT&T been tightening its credit requirements? I got my AT&T line in 2006 when my credit was much lower than it is now (I'd been unemployed in 2003, and has gotten behind on pretty much everything), and I wasn't asked for a deposit then. My FICO score must've been in the 500's at that point.

How many months does it take to build credit if you have none? I was told it could take 6 months before the bureaus update my history.
