Crisis! Can't quit installation loop, Macbook (late/Ultimo 2008)

Hello. I hope someone can help me.

My sister tried updating her Macbook from 2008 and now it's stuck in the update installation loop. It couldn't update and now when it restarts it keeps trying to install the update. It has pictures from the past 11 years and my sister does not have any backup.

What can I do? Please help!

Try shutting it off and then holding Command+R on startup. If you get to recovery try reinstalling macOS from there.

I want to extract files before I format it. What about target disk mode?
