You shouldn't be disappointed. It's an extremely competitive market, and requires quite some planning and luck. There's a lot involved in launching a successful app - ASO (App Store Optimization - using correct keywords in your text, screenshots, etc), social media marketing, contacting iOS or gaming websites / reviewers., posting on forums... the list goes on. There's millions of apps that haven't ever seen a single download.

We're seeing an average of 300 downloads a day with our app, and we've been in the top 50 Entertainment apps a few times in several countries.

Cool app by the way :)

I know it's a very competitive market but to be honest I don't know how to NOT be dissapointed after months of work is returning me less than a dollar a day.

Just downloaded and played a few rounds. Seems like a well-made game, simple concept, etc.

One observation though - I know it's a free game and revenue is derived from the ads, but an ad after EVERY play? It gets to be a bit much, especially for someone that is just getting the hang of it. Makes playing several games much less enjoyable. I know you can click to cancel on some, but... Think about a less frequent ad to play ratio.

What about something like how Crossy Road does it? After several played games, an option (not forced) to watch a short ad in exchange for game coins?

Abe - I greatly appreciate the feedback, thank you.

I will consider toning down on the ads, perhaps being too aggressive with the ads was a mistake.

I have to ask - was the in-app purchase to remove the ads and unlock all vehicles and weapons obvious? It's under "extras". I've been told by some people that they didnt even think to look there.

That's exactly why I quit playing this really FUN game being forced to watch 5 sec Ad every time I die?? I know you have to have ads most free apps do, but being forced to watch a 5 sec AD all the way through every time I die for any game.. Except it's always the same ad.. Even if it wasn't the same Ad.. 5 sec of forced Ad every time is too much. I played it for 10 mins, and though I thought the game was quite fun, and I wanted to play it, I quit. There has to be a better way.. I'll keep the game awhile and see if Ads get shorter, otherwise.. That drive me insane. I thought your 1st attempt was a major . Great work

I also wanted to add I didn't see a buy game to remove ads and unlock things. I would absolutely consider buying this fun game, IF I could play it a little longer and get the "hang" of not crashing and being forced to watch Ad after forced ad. It's a fun game and the Ads seem to distract from the gameplay.. I will be checking again to see if the ads are fewer and less forced. Good luck, great game

No, it wasn't apparent at all. Thanks for listening to the constructive feedback re: ads.

Your ads are fine. A lot of games do it that way. Don't want to see ads? Learn how to play the game well, yeah? I will say don't use them between menus though.

Put a share score thing on there.

Sometimes it doesn't respond to my presses BTW.

Hate to say it but there are just too many games out there. I'm guessing there are atleast 900 copter games just like yours alone. I'm not saying it's not good but why download yours over theirs?

Part of being successful on the App Store is doing market research before you build anything. Look at it this way the 6 months you spent learning stuff will always be yours and you are that much smarter bc of it! :)

I just released my second game and I'm also finding out how crowded the store has become!

Then I challenge you to find one

Yeah, there are probably a lot of similar copter games out there... The idea was an original one from this brain of mine, though. I didn't copy anyone. And personally I haven't found anything that's all that similar.

Thanks for the reply.

I intend on acting all your advice, but it's frustrating as an indie developer having to push out updates. Not because I mind updating my apps, but because that wipes the review slate clean! Why? Apple reviews our updates to make sure they're good... Right? So why wipe the entire slate clean? At least SHOW the past ratings on the main page so people can see that my app has good ratings.

Search: copter game on the app store. (866 results)

While they might not all be the same by the looks of just the screenshots (what people will look at) there are a lot that are similar. Since you just released your app im guessing your ranking in that search result is around 600. Im not saying your game is bad it actually plays pretty well but how to you expect anyone to find it? if you want to see where you rank in search results try using App Annie.

Im far from an expert I am just relaying information that was passed on to me. I also just released a free game Adventure To Fate : Battle Arena and I am seeing the same sort of stuff you are. Visibility is hard unless you get reviewed by a big site or have a unique game with some marketing behind it.
