Mac Mini + 42" TV for movies/music

iPad Mini 4 for games and casual reading/surfing

iPhone 7 for photography, music, maps, surfing on the go, looking up stuff

Acer Chromebook 14 because I can't see dropping 1k on a Macbook (I've had them in the past and they're great machines for school but I'm out of school now and don't need the programs)

I love the size of the iPad Mini. Reminds me of a paperback book. The iPhone 7 seems a little small and the battery life is not so hot. I had a 6+ previously and it was a beast to haul around especially with the protective case. The Chromebook is great for browsing and forums. The Mac Mini is also very underrated IMO and I don't think I'll be getting an iMac again. Any tips or share your setup.

Why a Mac Mini? First, most new HDTVs can play music and movies all by their lonesome. Or add a Chromecast or other dongle, and then shoot music or movies from your iPad or iPhone. I think the iPad Mini is kinda crappy for reading, since it's difficult to see in bright outdoors light, but if that's not what you're gonna do with it, no problem.

Good point, but it is my main file storage and manager for iTunes, Photos, etc to sync with iPad/iPhone. I tried a Chromecast and an Apple TV but a real computer works much better. I only read inside with the iPad. I have used a kindle paperweight and really liked it but I read more news/forums than books. Thanks!

<snipped for brevity> Any tips or share your setup.

Sept 26th was first day of the quarter at many 4 year universities. Apparently many students have purchased Chromebook stop gap solutions pending new Macbooks.

I'm hoping you have a timecapsule or something set up to do routine time machine backups of your mini's movie/music collection.

Thanks yes. I also have them on another computer. Are the minis known for spontaneous combustion?
