I picked up my 7D on Saturday and this is one from my back yard. I neglected to increase the ISO to get a sharper image, but this is a feature I need to get used to. The full EXIF is included.

Dale

I find my eye drawn to the leaves in the bottom center. It is rather distracting but I'm not sure what you could do to resolve that. Overall I like the tones in the greens.
Perhaps a bit shallower depth of field to blur out the far background a bit more? That might help with my foreground issue.

This is a stack of 720 exposures of 25 seconds each. It is made from the JPGs straight off the camera as I haven't had a chance to process the raw files. It was beautifully calm that night as you can see in the trees. They are lit by a campfire in about 100 of the images.

This was my first try at stacking. I'll also be making a time-lapse from the shots but only had iMovie in the field and it won't let me do individual frames less than .1 seconds in length.

Stunning. Not sure what to suggest to improve upon what you have already done:eek::)

Nicely composed/executed! Did you plan for the north star to be in that little break in the tree branch, or was that unintentional fortune?

Only thing I would suggest is to maybe tone down the brightness of the trees a little, to emphasize the night sky a little more. To my they look a little unnatural and slightly distracting as they are.

Well thank you!

I agree about the trees. This is just the JPGs right off the camera. Yesterday i was working to mask out the trees on the RAW files and did a test stack. It worked pretty well. Now I have to select which frame I want to use for the foreground. At the same time I will remove the three planes for the final image.

I wanted the north star to be in the frame but outside of that it was just a lucky chance that it fell into the cove created by the trees. Looking at the tiny LCD screen it was difficult to tell which little dot was the one I wanted. ;)

The lines just appealed - have bumped the saturation, sharpness and added some vignette.

Love some c&c

I really like this photo - it really has atmosphere. I have no critiques.

The sunlight is a bit bright. I feel like I need sunglasses. It does make me want to go for a bike ride though.
