Really? And people say that airplanes are one of the safest forms of travel.

Animals and airplanes don't mix well, history proved that.

There are disputed reports about this, and some degree of skepticism
Apparently the incident took place back in August

Reports say the croc survived the crash and was killed by a machete wielding villager helping with the wreckage

No report I read has ever given the size of the croc

But apparently, the flight was on final approach, the flight attendant panicked and fled to the cockpit, followed by the passengers, not allowing the pilots any margin of error to correct the imbalance.

Hindsight is 20/20, and none of us are Crocodile Dundee or the late Steve Irwin, the Crocodile Hunter, so questioning their panic is a little hypocritical in my opinion. This was not a hamster or a ferret. We don't know the size of the croc, but they have needle sharp teeth, powerful jaws and thrashing tails. Obviously none of the passengers thought they were endangering their lives. They were trying to escape an immediate danger without realizing they were creating a greater one.

And just look at him now! One minute you are holding a crocodile, the next minute you are dead.

Why would i save humanity?

The story here is some people did a very stupid thing that cost them there lives. You are talking about 19 adults running to one end of a plane to get away from something that was held in a carrier bag there for unless it is a venomous snake they over reacted.

People doing stupid things wether it is all running to one end of a plane or jumping of a harbour wall into shallow water (common here) it is still stupid and every time i hear of people doing stupid things that get them killed for no reason i do start to loose faith in humanity.

Perhaps it is the most wise decision to base my opinion of the rest of our race on this, but that does not negate that these people did something stupid that got them killed.

I have an idea to you to test out! Take something that you are afraid of and potentially dangerous. Maybe something like a rattle snake... or a big friggin spider, or perhaps a small wild cat. Get in your car driving fast with a bunch of friends and then have someone let the critter loose in your car! Now, let's see how well you do in bringing the car safely to a stop without crashing.

Seriously though... DON'T DO THIS. It was meant to illustrate how quickly people can get distracted and do dumb things. I once almost crashed my truck driving down the road in heavy traffic. I was going along when a huge yellow jacket flew in my window and started buzzing around the cab. It was everything I could do not to freak out... but I definitely swerved. Had other people been in the car, it might have been worse because I would have had to deal with them freaking out too.

Some big talk by the misanthropic naysayers here, but let's face it - unless one of you is a trained croc wrangler, there is no doubt in my mind that all of us would be panicking to a greater or lesser degree in the same scenario.

I smell a Samuel L. Jackson film.

That's true, but the picture on the front doesn't make it look very big. I'd just have stepped on it if it were truly that size.

Or, if you're FX, it's "Enough is enough! I have had it with these monkey fighting snakes on this Monday to Friday plane!"

That link was brilliant. Shame about the plane though and I did originally think it was like a crocodile like eating people or something like that

One of the more bizarre and tragic stories I have read in quite some time.
