There is one down side about BootCamp, If you wont to use certain drivers you need to have Windows XP Service Pack 2 or later. And Vista.

You should definitely have Service Pack 3. If you're saying the downside to Bootcamp is that it installs Windows then I can't help you out there.

I strongly recommend installing Windows. You can upgrade the graphics drivers to ones much more current than those Apple provides and potentially overlcock.
