Resolved Crucial m4 256gb 180$, worth it?

I don't need a hard drive right now, as I have about 60 gb left on my macbook pro at the moment. However, I need to start considering buying a new one (while using the current one for external storage) and I was wondering if I should snag this crucial m4 256gb ssd for 180$ (on amazon). I probably have another month or so before this drive fills up, would it be safer to wait and see if they drop any more?

Not sure about that size, but the 128GB has been fluctuating quite a bit. Just last week it was listed on Amazon for $109. Since a few days ago it has been changed to $121.

If I were in your shoes I would just wait.

bought the 120gb intel 520 ssd for 200.

so hell yeah i d take 180 for 256mb , crucial is fairly reputable brand

TigerDirect has the Samsung 830 256 gb for $199. My personal preference would be the Samsung. Thanks to SDave for the tip on the Samsung.

The Crucial M4 is a good SSD. For $180 I'd go for it. I got mine a couple months ago for $199 and don't regret the decision at all.

Did you end up getting it? I see now (just 21 hours later) it's up $16.49.

I ended up browsing around, and saw that the daily deal over at newegg put it at $180 as well. Combined with the fact that I have 2 day shipping over there, I decided to order from newegg.

Within the past few hours they bumped it up yet again, $199.99 now.

Day to day prices have been moving around a lot. When I bought mine, I paid $230 (if I remember correctly). The next day Amazon dropped their price to $199. I emailed them and they adjusted the price for me because my order hadn't even shipped yet. Later that same day it was back up in the $240-250 range. I had thought it would be a more consistent downward trend by now, just a slow decrease in price, but there's still been large up and downswings.

I also thought that. I've been checking Amazon multiple times daily for a 128GB Crucial M4. I'm going to pull the trigger as soon as I see it hit $99.99.
