I remember when Crysis first came out and it brought all but the most high end PC to its knees. They've remastered and rereleased the trilogy. I had a coupon coded from Intel to get this for free - I'm downloading the first game now, I'll update this thread as I get into the game play.

So I was able to spend a little time with the game - first off, as I mentioned I had a coupon code for the trilogy for free - I bought an intel CPU a month or so ago and they gave me Humankind and Crysis remastered. Humankind was from steam and Crysis is from epic.

I hadn't ever used the epic game store, so I had to register and install that - Unlike steam this game launcher seems overly invasive and annoying - just saying I'm not impressed.

Visually, its really nice, I will say that Cyberpunk pushed the envelope and if you have a powerful GPU it does produce a great game. As for Crysis, its not pushing my hardware at all - with an RTX 2060 Super, I was achieving about 55 FPS on high and triple digit frame rates with medium. Averaging about 130FPS. Clearly, I can boost the image quality in areas to provide a really nice experience and still have decent frame rates.

Game play feels a tad sluggish, that is, running and walking seems slower then other FPS games, not frustratingly slow but enough that I'm noticing. My game overlay is not showing high utilization on the GPU and I have a 11700k processor so its plenty fast.

There is no game save option, its automatic at checkpoints - I prefer games that allow saving at a specific spot, but I can live with this.

So far the game is enjoyable and I can see myself spending time playing.

I want to get this remastered trilogy… When I get a PS5.

Digital Foundry has released, few days ago, an analysis about the Crysis 2 remaster running on all new consoles, PS4, PS4 Pro, PS5, XBox One S, One X, Series S and Series X. And it looks great, much better than on the original release (on consoles). The resolution was pretty poor on PS3 and that blue tint on the image is now gone, and colors are now realistic. 60 frames per second, much better resolution…

I never played to the original games (I think the first Crysis was never released on console, and I’m not a PC Gamer, never been), but I think this remaster is a great opportunity to discover the series.

Enjoy them!!!

I'm enjoying the game, though I had to reinstall it (due to wiping and reinstalling windows 11), and the so-called cloud saves were non-existent. I had start the game all over - luckily I literally was at the very beginning so I just did the first couple of missions.

Doesn’t the remaster have a new GI option that “fixes” the in game lighting?

I enjoyed the first Crysis a lot, the sneaking about. i have one of the more recent versions picked up on sale, but have yet to play it.

I just installed Crysis Remastered, ($10 on Steam) I purchased it on sale, or maybe in 2021 when it was released. Original game release 2007. I played the original Crysis first and seem to remember loving it. Now into the remastered version, it reminds me of Far Cry 3 which I loved and may play that again too. To make a comparison of plots, in Far Cry your joyride to an island to party is interrupted when you and friends are captured by pirates.

In Crysis, you are part of a Special Ops team, wearing mechanized high-tech nano suits, parachute into a tropical island (great setting btw for adventure) to rescue a team of scientists who have been captured by N.Koreans. On the way in skydiving, the first hint of trouble is when something mysterious happens to you, colliding with something. I like open world games and this qualifies. This plot involves something found in the jungle at a dig site and mysterious violent death.

I like it because tactically you can stealth, and you can rush. The AI is ok, but typical, either not so bright, or somehow you are sensed when in stealth…but I can deal with it and am having a good time so far. Time will tell. :)

I think I'm in a rut, the game did not hold me.

I've been in a rut for years. I can't seem to get more than 20-30 hours into anything anymore. I guess I should feel fortunate that gaming has become the kind of thing where I expect to want to put 100+ hours into a modern title. Skyrim ruined me. ;)

There are games out there where I have between 500-1000 hours, it’s kind of mind boggling. The games that hold me tends to have a social aspect. I crank up Fallout 4 and I get this warm and fuzzy feeling traveling around the Commonwealth, some of it is having a companion who follows and you sort of have to keep their feelings in mind based on your actions, and they fight with you, for you. As simplistic and unrealistic these relationships area, it gives me a sense of belonging in this pretend setting, although I never approach losing touch with reality. It’s just a pleasant diversion. 😁

Recently I thought Avatar Frontiers was a winner, but in that setting, ultimately despite the amazing environment, I felt too much like a loner. The interesting aspect (I’ve mentioned before) is that I’ve grown to dislike most multiplayer questing type games because the tourists are constantly reminding me they are tourists from my world. PVP like World of Warships is acceptable, short competition encounters. But with an RPG, I want immersion and no tourists to break that immersion. Fallout 4: Armageddon, spouse murdered, child stolen, a mission to find your son, big surprises!

Winners: Skyrim, Fallout 4, Cyberpunk77, Vampire Mascaraed Bloodlines, Metro Exodus, others that likely elude me at the moment. 🙃
