cube 3d thingy intermittent

have g3 ibook 800mhz. When fast switching between users the screen normally does a 3d swivel thingy. Just recently this only happens now and then. still switches but really boring styli. Tried restart etc still the same. Any ideas?

I have the same thing on my QS .. the first time i change user it just changes the desktop from mine to a blue one and then the other user .. the next switches do get the cube effect ..

yeah thats right. worked perfectly till 3days ago

I think if the system is bogged down then it doesn't bother with the effects.
