Often we when we print a document, somehow it gets stuck and remains "processing" in the cups server forever. Sometimes it prints but not usually.

I tried going to localhost:631 and deleting the jobs but I am denied access to anything that takes admin rights. I get no prompt.

What do I do?

do you know the user name and password on the server? usually in the CUPS interface a window blind pops out in safari and asks for a password if you want to manage printer tasks. the remember "password box" may have been ticked so the window doesnt pop out. look for it in autofill preferences in safari or keychain access.

Screwed around with some things in the config file.
Ended up restarting cups several times and eventually I was able to cancel the held up documents through the OS X printer app but I could never do squat with cups.

What do I type in for the CUPS login prompt?
