I can’t use my iPhone X without TrueTone on.

It gives me a headache.

But with TrueTone on I have no issues.

Interestingly, my mom’s iPad 6th gen doesn’t have TrueTone but I can use it just fine.

But I have tried 4 diff iPad Pro 10.5. I can use all with TrueTone on. But with it off, I get headaches so bad it ain’t funny.

Then your issue isn’t pwm.... the iPad doesn’t have it

Then why do I get a headache with all 4 Pros I tried if TT if off?

Not because of PWM. True Tone helps with the white balance or something to make it look better in your lighting. I personally hate it and turn it off. The iPad doesn’t have PWM since no Apple LCD has it

How come I don’t have the same issue with iPad 6th gen or iPhone 7 or iPhone SE? But I have the issue with 10.5 and X.

It’s because of true tone not because of PWM. Idk and with the info you give I can’t tell you other then it’s not a PWM issue

Those devices don’t have True Tone. It started on the iPad Pro and the first phone with it was the X

Where do you keep your backlight settings? that may be the culprit too.
I used to have serious issues with my Macbook Pro even before I kept the brightness down to a minimum.

What are backlight settings?

Yes. I know that. But with TT on I’m good. With it off I’m not.

Idk what to tell you. As I said it’s now PWM so the title is misleading. Has to do something with brightness

Simply put in iOS speak... Display & Brightness>Brightness...that is where you find that setting.

I use Autobrightness.

But it’s unrelated.

I have no issues with 7/SE/iPad 6th gen on full brightness. With newer devices I have issues even if the brightness is as low as it should normally be. And I’ve always used auto brightness. Since 4s. That’s unrelated.

I experience the same problems, first when I got my X and now on my XS Max. I use Auto-Brightness and True Tone is always turned off. After a few minutes of use, I literally feel like my retinas are sunburned. Now if I turn True Tone on, my eyes are just fine, no burning sensation or sharp headaches around my eyes.

I also use an iPad 6th Gen, that has an LCD display, True Tone is turned off, Auto-Brightness turned on - never a headache or burning sensations in my eyes.

It's these OLED displays and the way Apple has them tweaked. :(
