    Hello everyone.
I am quite new to this Apple world. Out of curiosity I would like to ask you a question about past updates of Apple notebooks. I made an attempt to answer my question by performing a web search, but I did not find anything.

All of the updates in the past months have been "minor" ones. The updated notebooks had the same price of the old versions and a 24-hour availability. Furthermore, when the MBA was presented, it started shipping almost immediately.

Has it always been like this? Has Apple ever increased or lowered the price of updated notebooks (or desktops)? Has the shipping always been immediate?

They are silly questions, I know, but I am really curious.

    Thanks.

There is no single answer that will address your questions.

Generally there's a six month update cycle. Some updates are major, some are minor. Sometimes the updated computers ship immediately, sometimes within 30-60 days. Sometimes the price goes up, rarely does it go down.

There's no formula to follow. Apple, like every other manufacturer is at the mercy of its suppliers. Flash memory is one issue, updated processors from Intel is another. Oftentimes availability of components is what dictates when a product is released.

There's plenty of speculation going on concerning the next major processor update but it's just that, speculation. Apple doesn't release a roadmap.
