Just out of interest who here struggles to run Flash on their Macs? I'm talking about Flash HD videos.

My '07 Macbook Pro simply couldn't play it and now my 2011 Mini gets super hot. It can run it, but after 30 minutes or so the fans kick in like crazy.

I stop streaming and within a minute the machine is silent again.

So my question: Is there really an issue here is this Adobe+Apple spat over it resulting in crappy versions of Flash being ported over?

No Window machine in the house struggles, and a laptop we keep in the lounge which has similar specs to my MBP breezes through it.

Just curious :D

Tip: YouTube has an HTML5 beta but you have to opt-in. Other sites like Vimeo have something similar.

A more comprehensive solution is the ClickToFlash Safari extension, but that's Safari exclusive.

Both of these replace Flash video with native video, which plays much more efficiently.
