I've long been curious (but embarassed to ask):

When I send an html-formatted email to someone whose email client also handles html, does my correspondent see exactly my formatting -- things like font, font size, color? I'm curious especially about fonts: I like Apple's optima font, but most of my email correspondents have Windows machines which do not have that font. I've no technical knowledge of html, but if it's like an image, would my correspondent's email application reproduce the image as is, as if it were a photograph, fonts and all, even if the font is not actually on his or her computer? What does an email recipient actually see if I use a font he or she doesn't have? For the moment I play safe by using the verdana font, because everyone has it. But those other handsome Apple fonts are sure tempting....

theyd see it exactly how you see it, unless they dont have the font that you have. everything else should be exactly the same
