I'm not one to usually criticise Apple's marketing team, who seem to be basically the best in the business, but this launch week has been curiously low-key with just that brief group 'hands-on' event and seemingly no review units or (more likely given the rogue Geekbench benchmarks) embargoed reviews. But I don't get why the embargoes haven't lifted already?

The M5 Pro and Max machines are available for order but there's no independent corroboration of Apple's marketing claims. And there's so many products to get reviewed and publicity for - at this rate the hype will have long died down before these reviews go live, Just seems a bit odd and annoying.

Reviews will drop next week. There are over 8 products that Apple announced this week. Reviewers need time to record and edit. iPhone and iPad's drop Monday. Mac's and displays on Tuesday.

You’ve been here so long but still don’t understand?

Are you expecting a fair and thorough review within 48 hours of product launch?

Embargos don’t lift so quickly because Apple wants actual reviews, not a race to get the first click. The battery life alone on these things are marketed for 24 hours.

Don't reviews for Apple products (constrained by embargo) typically appear on or very near the products' release dates? The release date for the newly-announced MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, and MacBook Neo is March 11.

Maybe chill out a bit?

If you can't wait, watch a M4 MacBook Pro video. Everytime they say "M4" replace it with "M5" in your head. Everytime they say a benchmark, add 15-20%, or reduce time taken by 15-20%. Every time you hear WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2, replace it with "WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 6".
And when they say “Storage starts at…” add an extra 512GB for M5/M5 Pro and an extra 1TB for M5 Max. And when they say “Price starts at…” add an extra $100 to M5 and extra $200 to M5 Pro/Max. 🙂
