Hello All,

I just purchased a mac mini 2007 MB139LL/A that was upgraded C2D@2.0GHz 4GB ram and 320GB HS running 10.7. I got off ebay for 50 plus shipping. I was wondering if this is something that is usable? Could my kids use for homework, fun?

Thanks,

For light stuff, yea. You can't run the latest browser for any modern browser any more, but the older ones still load most web pages just fine. An older version of Firefox or Chrome should work fine (I prefer Chrome's older version as stuff seems to work better on it). You are going to have to find older versions of apps for it. For example, Office 2011 will be the latest version of MS Office that will work on it.

Great, Thanks for the reply... I don't own other apple computers, is there a apple store to get the older apps from or will I have to dig around for the older versions and install?

You'll need to go online and search for them. The Mac App Store (I assume that's what you meant) will have hardly anything to install on that Mac. You will need to search online.

Just be careful if you are using an old browser and visit any sites that require passwords. You or your kids could have personal information exposed, and if the same passwords are used on more than one site it could be a bigger problem.

Thanks... I plan to just let the kids use it for homework and stuff. They have a laptop also, but at times they need to use at the same time and most of their homework needs to be done in a browser. I was just hoping to be able to get away with something cheap for their use.
