Just curious, after looking on the macrumors homepage I noticed that "iPod" has now been replaced with a new logo and titled "Music".

Am I missing something here? The current "iPod" contains more than music, it contains video (Tv shows, movies, video podcasts etc.).

As such, it makes no sense that the rename "Music" would also contain video...

Thanks for your opinions!

I agree! i was wondering the same thing!
I think that the final version will come with an iPod. Maybe they got the iPod Touch and iPhone mixed?

The iPod has to come back, since the iPhone was first announced, it was an iPod, a Phone, and a Mobile browser at heart.

Steve Jobs said during the Keynote that the iPod App will be changing.

Didn't he say,'we have a brand new iPod app'

It's to have consistency between all iOS devices (having separate Apps for Movies, Music).

Really? When? i'm surprised I didn't catch that.
What did he say specifically?

I was watching TWiT this morning and they found a website that was broadcasting the event, so while I was following some LiveBlogs I was listening to the live audio feed from TWiT and I heard Steve mention that they changed the iPod icon, but I didn't see any LiveBlog mention it.

They said something about the app getting changed during the iTunes Bruno Mars' song purchase.

I liked it better when it said iPod.
Is there a separate icon for videos/movies? Those certainly are not considered "Music".

I think it makes more sense having "Music" and "Videos" or whatever it is now. I've always thought it was dumb to have an "iPod" app on your iPod Touch... where's the sense in that??

I think Music is a much better name. It describes what the app is for, iPod is a device.

The new iPod app applies to iPad only...that's what I got from the keynote

All devices

Future dual core proc...

the thing is, there was never an iPod app on the iPod touch...it was Music and Videos.

if that's what they wanna do, then they need to change the music/video icons. they're ugly
