Formatting drives and offline programming. Two things I do often unfortunately.

For me it’s doing spreadsheets. None of the app versions I’ve tried have even close to the features of the desktop versions.

Managing files without having to go through all sorts of unnecessary contortions.

Running Final Cut Pro and similar pro editing tools. Being able to boot into Windows in order to play any of the many games that are neither available for iOS nor for MacOS. Neither of these (pro editing apps, Boot Camp/virtualization software) are currently my cuppa but if they matter to you, it could be a big deal.

I also find selecting, copying, and pasting text to be SO much easier with a mouse than with a finger. Sure you can now use a mouse or trackpad with the iPad Pro but I find the gigantic thumbprint of a cursor lacking in accuracy of focus and even the Magic Keyboard isn't nearly as responsive for these fine motor tasks as a mouse or trackpad is on a Mac.

I want a "computer" with a "file system" that I can manipulate and organize.
I also want the ability to boot externally from time to time.
I want the ability to install ANY software I want to use from ANY source.

Can iOS offer those capabilities?

A MacBook has a proper keyboard attached and ready without having to have a separate appendage.

macOS is far more robust in multitasking and workflow options, whereas iOS is limiting and often frustrating.

Sorry so late getting back to you. I just can’t find reason to invest in MacBook as most of the things I do are online anyway. Maybe use once or twice a month if that. Thanks for input
