Your asking me if I would accept it? Of course, it's free.

But if you were asking me if I would go down to a store that could be a long drive away to pick one up even if I had no problem and/or a case already, then probably not, but chances are I will be able to swing by a store at least once up to Sept 30.

why would you not use a case? don't you want your phone to last? I have a case already but I'll def look and see what they have to offer.. my phone works fine but it would be nice to have options
It's not an either-or proposition.

I have never used a case on my iPhones, and all of them have been practically perfect when I sold them. Meaning minuscule scratches on the back :apple: and nothing else wrong.

There are many of us who use our iPhones naked with no regrets.

I will accept their offer - its free :)

as to whether i choose the Apple bumper case, or one of their alternatives is a different matter. All depends what the free alternatives are.

Depends. If you essentially have to sign for the case as your fix (i.e. waiving any right to some future fix for this issue via warranty support) then I'll pass.

Yeah, I'd be really irked if a re-engineered iPhone (that doesn't need a case) is released after Sept. That would devalue my phone (not necessarily in my eyes, but certainly in the market at large) and the "free-case" question would take a new angle.

Of course for me it's academic - since I've never wanted to sell any of my old iDevices (it'd be like selling the much-loved family pet :) ). But since we're talking about principles, it's an interesting question.

I'm not sure what I'm going to do. I'll wait until all of the choices are revealed by Apple before I decide. I do have reception issues which my iFrogz case fixes. It's too bad that Apple won't refund 3rd party cases.

I doubt Apple would do that - my experience with Apple is they stand behind their products. Every time I've had a service issue they've fixed it -for free - even out of warranty when they decided it was a known product defect.

I suspect if they do an antenna redesign it would not involve changing the physical specs but rather a circuit board redesign; which would allow replacement of existing device boards as well. Of course, I don't think they will do a redesign; nor do I think it is needed.

Well you can have an opinion and still be wrong. Just because I choose not to take advantage of apple by accepting something I don't need, doesn't mean I'm talking complete Bollocks. It means my integrity is worth more to me than picking up a free bumper. Not every one in the world is looking for something for nothing. Plus it's not "free". Yes, you're not paying anything for it but apple isn't going to take this financial hit. It WILL be passed on to the consumer through higher prices on other items, but why should you worry about that.... You got your free bumper.

I'm just glad there are people out in the world with my line of thinking. Unfortunately there are far more with your thinking and IMHO that's what's wrong with the world.

You cant have an opinion on something and be wrong... its an opinion its not factual... and I never said it was. If I were to say "and I know for a fact I am right..." then theres a possibility I am wrong.

My opinion still stands. And you really think because people are getting free bumpers apple will up the price on there other products? really? lets see then.

And you said looking for something for nothing... No...it was steve jobs who said everyone could get a free bumper... it wasnt everyone else saying "We think we all deserve free bumpers"

So I still think people (or atleast 99% of them) who say they wont accept a free thing which would normally cost them £25 is talking bollocks. And one more time this is just my opinion.. its not factual its just my belief... so im neither wrong or right...

Just like religion.

Dont take this as a vendetta against you or anything.. im not trying to insult you (maybe your the 1% of people who actually mean it)

I, for one, will not. I think the antenna issue is much to do about nothing.

Your thoughts?
I will. I posted about having major issues with this on June 23rd at 11am (before it was even identified). You can thread search this easily. I'm not looking for freebies, I only held on to the iP4 because I expected Apple to provide a solution for me. All things considered, this is cheaper than doing a recall.

Of course I will receive it.

I paid for the phone, and part of that purchase price now includes a bumper.

I have helped Apple sell many Macs, iPods, and iPhones.

My relationship with Apple is mutually beneficial, and I have no problem cashing in on the benefits that I am entitled to.

I'd really like to know who the people are that will accept the free bumper even though they have been so vocal about the fact that there's no issue. Their iPhones work perfectly and that those that are having an issue are lying or exaggerating.

Speak up now and show your hypocrisy :)

No I will not take it.... I have no issues and I have integrity.

Isn't this what a lot of people are complaining about in America? Those getting a "free" handout?

Funny part is there is no such thing as a "free" anything. The cost will be passed onto the consumer.

This is not what we are complaining about in America.

This is an item that is being included with the purchase of an item that I have personally paid for.

The freeloading, socialist, liberals in this country expect free health care, welfare, etc, that I have to pay for.

That is not the same, by any stretch of the imagination.

I'll take one because I'm concerned that if I drop my iPhone 4, it will for sure break. I never dropped my original iPhone, but still. As for the signal issue, I never really had a problem with it, so yeah, I'm totally just taking advantage of this free bumper thing. :p

People who own an iPhone 4 and do not accept a free case are fools. Give me your free case so I can sell it to someone.

I haven't had much problem with my phone at all, just two dropped calls. Then I evolved as a human being and developed a different grip. I sure as heck would like a free handout from Apple...

Opinions can be wrong... If you have an opinion against a fact, you're wrong.

Personally, I don't believe in gravity.

People in America complain about free handouts given to people who don't deserve them. Clearly, Apple customers deserve a free handout for their mistake.

Should have multi-quoted, but I don't really care.

Okay! I have fairly no issues with my iPhone, yet I will get a refund for the bumper. Having no problems with my phone I wouldn't call AppleCare and ask for one (as I know many did - call, complain over the phone, get a free bumper and then complain some more in another useless dumb post at Apple support forum). But as long as every iPhone 4 user is offered a bumper/case if they wish for it, why would I refuse?

Then, most reasonable users with functioning iPhones have never been "vocal" and "saying that those with problems are lying/exaggerating". We point out that there are phones that do not show the problem to the same extent while "whiners" are vocal trying to persuade us that we are not trying hard enough to make our phones lose signal!

And speaking of hypocricy! Who came up with that conspiracy theory that Apple had known about the reception issue with their new phone before the launch and that's why they have made the bumper? And who's been complaining and demanding free bumpers because it was all Apple's evil plan all along? Now that Apple acknowledged the problem and offered the bumper/case to alleviate the issue while they are doing further research and work towards a permanent fix, you are again unhappy and go on and on with your complaints! IMO, hypocricy is all yours.

Interesting.

Yes. I could use the $30 back.

Can I have your free bumper? I'll pay $10

I don't get why any iPhone 4 owners will not get a case just for the fact that it's free. What else can you do?

... Why would you not get it? Just sell it again.

I personally don't "need" it. But when a billion dollar company does handouts, I'll take it :)

Ill be accepting a free one. They were extortionately overpriced as they were. It costs them about a dollar to produce (about £0.65 in UK) and £25 to buy. Its not often you get something for nothing in this world, and this time its something of value.
Dont stare a gift horse in the mouth

it's FREE why wouldn't I except a free hand out? I will be looking at the cases more then the bumpers though

Why wouldn't I? I like free stuff. :D

So none of you have had antenna issues of the iPhone 4? You just want the free case?

I get the antenna issue but the phone is so good it doesn't bother me (I don't hold it that way when I talk on the phone ... non-issue). I'll use Apple's free bumper until Otterbox finally starts shipping their iPhone 4 cases.
