I've refrained from posting, seeing he amount people have been flamed for complaining about their new apple products, but I am.. unhappy to say the least.
This started a few weeks back now, with the purchase of a brand new i7 macbook pro 15". The first machine would wake from sleep, and had video tearing. It were replaced in the apple store. Second machine had the same video tearing issues, but at least the sleep issues had gone? oh wait, is that a series of dead pixels? Exchanged again, 3rd Machine didn't even boot up. Now I'm pissed. 4th machine, some mild cosmetic damage and the same Video tearing, I'm now on my 5th machine of which I'm happy with. Total costing of travel and parking the retail store. (60 mile round trip. my car does 30mpg, roughly £5 per gallon in the uk right now, 5 trips. 10 gallons, £50. Plus parking £7 per trip. £85)
A week after receiving my perfect macbook I ordered my BTO i7 Imac (the new refresh) and to my dismay I have severe screen bleeding, a PSU buzz on any brightness apart from highest or lowest, wakes randomly from sleep, and appears to have a loud HD(this one I can live with) Apple care have told me to take it into the store and they'll sort me out, but lugging a 30lb mac to the apple store, the distance to the retail store, should I really be bothered?
Disappointing after making over £4000 worth of purchases :(

Wow. You have been plagued. I must say with all my apple purchases I only had one issue with the first gen. MacBook pro. I was one of the first ones to buy one when it just came out and my issue with it was that it overheated so bad that you couldn't touch it. I then read about those problems online and decided to return it nag get an iMac instead which I did. I got the G5 with iSight core duo which I still have with zero issues. Once the next gen MacBook pros came out I decided to give it another shot and that one was perfect. I got the early 2008 model and still have that as well with zero problems. Just recently I got the 27" i7 iMac and it's flawless. No issues of any kind with it.
My iPhone 3GS is giving me problems though ever since the update but other then that I've been pretty happy with the apple products

The Apple fanatics here will tell you you made this all up and joined the forum only to disparage Apple. I mean, how can Apple sell defective units? Impossible! Multiple returns? You're lying or have untreated OCD.

In reailty, you are not alone, my friend. Many people have experienced similar tales with Apple products. Replacement after replacement having different defects. It is NOT uncommon to go thorugh a cycle of returns and replacements with Apple.

The saving grace is an insurance pool Apple runs called AppleCare." almost all consumers of Apple prodcuts purchase this addiotnal insurance. This allows Apple to have better customer service and allows them to offset the cost of fixing defetive machines made with poor quality control. Their racket is that if yo ucomplain, they'll send you another computer, albeit still flawed. They will continue to send you another repalcment, but be careful. Some of these "new" repalcements are actually refurbs. The reasoning isthat you are sendingthem a used computer andthats what they will send right back to you. Do a search. You'll see how many repalcement machines have funny scratches, misaligned screens (from putting a replacemnt monitor in), debris inside the glass, etc.

It is muhc better to retunr and get a full refund and purchase again on another day. If you keep retunring new computers, you will end up with a not so new one as a replacement.

    Good luck.
