Hi Guys,

I'll be heading over to the US from Australia soon and I'm looking at picking up a new MBP over there. But I would prefer to get the 13' inch, non-touchbar. I'm currently running a mid-2012 model so I'm overdue for an upgrade.

However, I want to pick one up with 16GB of ram. I've heard that some of the larger Apple stores in the US will carry higher spec'd/custom models, but do you think I'd be likely be able to pick one with more RAM up, or am I stuck with the standard spec?

Any help would be appreciated.

You could just order the exact configuration you want with the keyboard you want and get it shipped to a store. Then pick it up when you get there :)

I've picked up a high-spec'ed 13" in Hongkong once, simply by asking for it in the store. He was like "of course we have that".

But YMMV.

^ this. Sometimes the stores will have an "ultimate" config, which is maxed out. That is most likely the only way to get 16GB in store for the 13".

They probably do not carry base or mid range models with 16gb in store.
