I bought a new white 16gb from ATT for Xmas and just LOVE the white, but I wanted to try something different so I ordered a custom shell from Asia and a custom Carbon Italian leather case from Casemate.

Case Mate's Italian Carbon Leather case ($49.99 @ CASEMATE )

Finished rebuilding the phone today and thought I'd show it off a little. :)

This blue and carbon 3G iPhone has got the look. I just love it.

I don't personally care for the case (or any case), but the blue shell is really pretty. How satisfied with it are you in terms of build quality? Is it just like having the Apple casing except in that great color, or do you notice any inferiority in its build?

They ship you plastic chrome parts to replace all the factory chrome. I decided to use all the factory chrome from my other phone. Otherwise, the plastic shell is the same thickness. I have a BSE installed for protection, I just like the blue and CF combination. My white 16gb shell is BSE only as I like to run naked.

I too am interested in the quality, fit and finish. I'm getting bored with the black back. Also, where did you order it from?

Warranty...... lol. I'm an E.E. :) "I" am the people's wty as I repair iPhones HERE for free for people who don't have wty. Trying to help the community and all......

I can swap one in 20 minutes, others have taken a full day. No real way to judge time there, it's on you. Fit and finish is as good as you as well. I've seen them go together nasty and me have to clean them up. Perfection possible? Sure..... mine is.

I was thinking of doing this...do you have any tips or things to look out for?

Good to hear on the fit and finish! I don't want to get off topic so I am sending you a PM about a possible iPod repair.

It's all technique. If you are key with details and good with your hands you'll do well. This is one of those things in life you really want to pay attention to what you do, and what the reaction to what you do is. Laying down a little clear epoxy around the rim to keep the bezel seated is good...... letting the epoxy touch the metal fingers on the inside of the bezel (which is extremely hard to keep off of it as you are epoxying the very part you are trying to keep it off of) is bad. Screen won't "snap" into place if the fingers don't bend. Attention to detail.........

Here's red, white, and blue :) Quite patriotic. ;)

The red one belongs to CPJR from MMI, the white and blue are my cases. I like the red, but the lady walked by it and said "Oh how cute it matches my shoes and lipstick" and I decided red wasn't for me :D

Expect "a while" for delivery. It comes slow boat. Literally......

I want a silver one now.

I just recently bought a red and a gold one from ecaseshop(DOT)com and it shipped out the next day. It'll take 10-15 days to get here, but since its coming from Hong Kong and only cost 4.99 shipping, I can deal. I can't wait until I get my gold one in! (The red is for a friend)
If you do buy from them, don't forget to use their coupon for 10% off. My order was ~$70, so it ended up being free shipping and then some with the coupon.
I'll let everyone know when I get mine in!
